Spruce up your home with some luxury antiques at online auctions

More auction houses have returned to the rostrum with online-only sales and among the highlights of some upcoming auctions are luxury antiques guaranteed to bring a touch of glamour to your home.

The Canterbury Auction Galleries will offer this pair of ormolu-mounted Blue John vases by Matthew Boulton with an estimate of £15,00-25,0000 at its online-only June 6-7 auction.

The auction industry has been adapting to life in the current coronavirus pandemic by switching to an online-only formula with staff working remotely and ensuring social distancing measures are respected at all times, including during delivery.

This Sunday Lots Road Auctions in London will hold its first online-only live auction on Sunday, May 17 – its first sale since March 15.

Among the highlights is this Japanese shibayama cabinet c.1890, estimated at £1000-2000 at Lots Road on May 17.

Next month The Canterbury Auction Galleries will return to the rostrum with a two-day sale of fine art, antiques and collectors’ items on June 6-7.

Meanwhile Bishop & Miller will launch online-only auctions from June including a ceramics auction and its first standalone paintings auction.

According to the latest government advice, from June 1 auction houses and art and antiques dealers are expected to be able to open their premises to the public in a limited manner.
