The Fanuc R2000iA with RJ3iB controller is used by automotive companies worldwide, but is also suited to a wide range of applications in many other industries too. It has a very compact configuration which means that it can fit where many physically bigger robots would not. Yet the R2000iA has industry leading payload capacity, reach and is among the fastest robot arms in its class. This makes the R2000iA very useful in many applications such as press tending, injection moulding and die casting where the ability to fit in confined spaces is important. The narrow wrist design also helps in this regard. The wrist axis are driven by motors placed at the back of the arm and are driven through drive-shafts. This design allows the wrist unit to be as compact as possible and also helps with the overall balance and weight distribution of the arm. The wrist of the R2000iA has an IP rating of IP67 and the rest of the arm is IP54. The lower arm is single sided; this allows the robot to āflip overā and work behind itself. Again this allows the R2000iA to be useful in more applications than earlier generations of robot using a parallel arm design. Overall the arm is light, fast and compact without compromising on reach or payload. Typically, in a car plant, the R2000iA would be used mostly for spot welding and part handling. However, these are very simple applications for what is a very capable machine. Sealing and gluing applications as well as grinding, de-burring, finishing and polishing are all well within capabilities. Other tasks include inspection, testing, MIG, TIG and laser welding, handling, palletising, machine tending; essentially this is a very multipurpose robot indeed. The R2000iA comes with the Fanuc RJ3iB controller. Benefits of the RJ3iB include fast boot up time, excellent connectivity, powerful programming language, built in safety circuits, expandable I/O and bus options. The RJ3iB is also recognised as being very stable and reliable. There are several varieties of R2000iA, the three most common types are: R2000iA/165F ā The standard 165kg payload arm R2000iA/210F ā The heavy-duty 210kg payload arm R2000iA/125L ā Long arm version giving extra reach These are rare arm types that we also see: R2000iA/165R ā Usually mounted on a pedestal above the work area R2000iA/200R ā Heavy-duty pedestal robot R2000iA/165CF ā Ultra compact short arm version R2000iA/200FO ā 200kg payload āForward Optionā R2000iA/100P - Pedestal mounting 3500mm reach for press tending R2000iA/130U - Ceiling mounted hanging robot Each robot is cleaned and tested. Depending on condition, arms are also repainted. Testing is done in both manual and auto and a change of any lubricants required and change the batteries.
